Ryan is head of innovation and media business at the International Press Institute, where he leads a portfolio of training, advisory and funding for independent media. He also directs the organization's annual Media Innovation Festival. He specializes in helping organisations design systems for innovation practice and strategy alignment to unlock opportunities for revenue generation and technology adoption.
Before joining IPI, he was head of a magazine's digital product and publishing divisions, and advised media in Europe and Sub-Saharan Africa on revenue and product strategy. Has reported from Boston, Dar es Salaam, Berlin, Istanbul, Accra and Vienna.
