About

Nelly Kalu is a dynamic multi-format broadcast and investigative journalist, recognised for her expertise in editorials, disinformation investigations, and audience engagement across radio, television, podcasting, and digital media. An alumna of the Radio Netherlands Training School (RNTC) and Dubawa, she excels in storytelling, research, OSINT, and solutions journalism. Nelly is passionate about amplifying diverse voices in African media and advocates for a free press, a commitment she highlighted in her TEDx talk at Lagos State University. A 2022 World Press Institute Fellow, Nelly has studied media operations in the U.S., exchanging insights on press independence. She is a certified trainer in Solutions and Environmental Journalism, and has led capacity-building initiatives with institutions like the Broadcast Radio MasterClass (BRMC) and the UNHCR Journalist Mentorship Programme. She is also the co-founder of Africa Talks. Currently, as Editorial Project & Product Manager at the Center for Collaborative Investigative Journalism (CCIJ), she leads innovative projects in AI and the metaverse, driving impactful journalism and product innovation. Nelly Kalu is committed to advancing journalism that informs, engages, and drives meaningful change, combining her expertise in journalism, product innovation, and strategic project management.
