Eric Mugendi is the managing editor at Africa Uncensored, where he oversees the production and distribution of content at Kenya’s leading investigative journalism platform. He has worked in data journalism, fact-checking and verification, and program management, and has a passion for information integrity, with over 10 years’ experience with various Kenyan and African media platforms. He has written for The EastAfrican, a leading regional newspaper based in Nairobi, and also wrote and edited for TechCabal and iAfrikan, two continental technology news, information and analysis platforms. In 2017, he joined PesaCheck, East Africa's first public finance fact-checking initiative, as managing editor, and in 2020, he left to join Meedan, a technology non-profit working to improve the quality of information available and accessible online. With a background in environmental studies, and experience in journalism and fact-checking, Eric has worked to confront the surge of false information, implementing effective fact-checking methodologies through training journalists and other media practitioners, and is now enabling the public to protect and advance their rights through investigative storytelling.
