Miriam Wells is impact and strategy editor at The Examination, an independent newsroom which investigates industry-driven health threats around the world. Previously a reporter, producer, foreign correspondent and editor across print, TV, radio and digital, she pioneered the role of impact editor at her former workplace, the Bureau of Investigative Journalism in the UK.
Since creating the role in 2019 she has worked to maximise the real world change sparked by journalism by embedding communities and impact thinking throughout the editorial process and newsroom culture, and collaborating across sectors such as civil society, academia and art. She consults with newsrooms and organisations around the world who want to amplify the power of their reporting, and co-convenes a global network of people working in journalistic impact roles.
