Maria works closely with journalists worldwide to support accurate, engaging, and constructive reporting on pressing issues such as plastic pollution, climate change, and the ocean crisis. She has led initiatives that brought journalists directly into the process on negotiating a global plastic treaty, ensuring that independent media can cover the complexities of multilateral environmental governance. She believes deeply in free media, freedom of expression, and the role of constructive journalism in inspiring transformative change.
