Mahtab Divsalar is an investigative journalist with more than two decades of experience in Farsi-language media, spanning newspapers, radio, television, and digital platforms. She began her journalism career in Tehran in the 1990s and relocated to the United States in 2003 to continue working free from the political constraints facing journalists in Iran. In the U.S., she was a managing editor and television producer for Voice of America and Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, where she led coverage of global affairs and Iranian politics.
Now based in Europe, Mahtab specializes in uncovering corruption, money laundering, and the effects of U.S. sanctions on Iran. She has contributed to cross-border investigations with international media organizations, including the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP). Having spent more than two-thirds of her career in exile, her professional journey reflects both the challenges and resilience of journalists forced to work beyond their borders.
