About

Based in Lahore (Pakistan), Khalid Khattak is an award-winning journalist with nearly 20 years of experience. He is the founder of Data Stories Pakistan. The country’s first independent and only initiative dedicated entirely to data journalism. The project aims to promote data literacy and encourages storytelling through credible data, helping people understand complex issues using data, and visualizations. Khalid currently works as a Staff Reporter at The News International. He was selected as a Daniel Pearl Fellow in 2013 and as part of the fellowship he worked at the DC bureau of The Wall Street Journal. He has also worked at Duluth News Tribune, Duluth Minnesota, under the U.S.-Pakistan Professional Partnership in Journalism program. He is a trainer and speaker and has participated in various local and international conferences. He was also invited to serve as the lead trainer for a special data journalism workshop organized by the Pakistan Press Foundation in the past. Khalid has also taught journalism at the University of the Punjab and remains active in Pakistan’s media circles through his involvement with the Lahore Press Club and the Punjab Union of Journalists.
