Justus von Daniels is Editor-in-Chief of the German non-profit media house CORRECTIV. Together with his colleague Anette Dowideit he leads the investigation and journalistic innovation projects. Justus joined CORRECTIV in 2015 as an investigative reporter. In 2018 he built up CORRECTIV.lokal, a network of local journalists to collaborate on data-driven stories. Today more than 2000 journalists are part of that.
He studied law in Leipzig, Budapest and Berlin, pursuing a PhD in Law in 2008. For his PhD he was awarded the Humboldt Prize in Berlin. As a postdoc he spent two years at Cardozo Law School in New York and at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton. Before joining CORRECTIV he worked as a freelance journalist for various German newspapers.
Justus got various awards for investigations and journalistic projects. He was also named "Editor-in-Chief of the year 2021" together with his colleague Olaya Argüeso and "Journalists of the year 2024" together with the team around an investigation "Secret plan against Germany".
