About

Five-time finalist for the Latin American Prize for Investigative Journalism , he is Co-founder and co-editor of Armando.info. He has published investigations on corruption, mineral trafficking, and landmines. He is a member of the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ), with which he coordinated the Venezuelan team for the Panama Papers investigation. He received the Knight International Journalism Award in 2018 and the Global Shining Light Award in 2023 for a work that combined artificial intelligence and on-site reporting to geolocate more than 3,700 illegal mines in southern Venezuela. He was a JSK Fellow at Stanford University in 2019-2020 and later joined the Pulitzer Center's Tropical Forest Investigations Network.
