Ignacia Velasco is a data journalist for Latin America at OCCRP (Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project), originally from Chile. Along her career she participated in transnational investigations and data-driven projects, including collaborations on The Implant Files, Covid-19, and NarcoFiles—exposing organized crime networks across the region. She began her career at Chilean media outlets El Mercurio newspaper, one of the country’s most historic and influential publications, and LaBot, a pioneering digital initiative where she specialized in making complex stories accessible through chatbot technology and data visualization. She also collaborated in data stories for CIPER Chile and Revista Sábado, and has extensive experience training students and journalists in data reporting and investigative techniques.
