About

Emmanuel K. Dogbevi, is a multiple award winning Ghanaian investigative journalist and trainer. His consistency in the last 35 years has left an indelible mark in the annals of journalism not only in Ghana, but across Africa and the world. His unwavering trust in the essence of journalism as a public good and the survival of democracy, free speech and accountable governance has informed his impactful work over the years. He is the founder and Managing Editor of Ghana Business News. He is also the Executive Director of NewsBridge Africa, a nonprofit focused on strengthening journalistic capacity across Africa. In 2024, he was elected the Vice President of The African Editors Forum (TAEF). Dogbevi’s reporting often focuses on business, finance, environment, particularly issues like e-waste, natural resource exploitation, illicit financial flows, and corruption. His work has had real impact. Many of his reports have prompted legislative or regulatory change. He has trained hundreds of journalists across Africa in investigative techniques, fact-checking, reporting on illicit financial flows, and more. He is seen as a strong advocate for press freedom, transparency, and media ethics. Faced with the difficulty in finding grants to train journalists, he created 'The Journalism Hangout' in 2019 - an informal, cost-effective model for training journalists. He has since trained more than 100 journalists in accuracy, ethics, fact-checking and investigative techniques across Ghana. Dogbevi holds a Master’s degree in Journalism from Columbia University, where he is a Knight-Bagehot Fellow in Economics & Business Journalism.
