Daisy Okoti

Research & Impact Editor
Nation Media Group

About

Daisy works as the Research & Impact Editor at Nation Media Group - NMG (physically present in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Rwanda). Her Impact role is at the intersection of journalism, media partnership engagement, and making the case for impactful and solution-oriented journalism through monitoring and evaluation. The role also extends to the larger newsroom where she works with teams across all beats to measure the impact of journalism and come up with strategies that strengthen the benefits of impact measurement in the newsroom, beyond impact in journalism being merely a ‘good to have’. As research editor, she leads a team on the news desk, to ensure news stories are backed by relevant data (both qualitative and quantitative). Additionally, she publishes a weekly column in East and Central Africa’s largest-selling newspaper, the Daily Nation. Before her current role, she was a full-time features writer for Daily Nation and Business Daily. She researched, interviewed people, and wrote features on lifestyle, art, entrepreneurship, leadership, cultures, and education. Before joining NMG, Daisy had spent five years covering art, film, culture, and literature for Artmatters.Info, an online journal flaunting art in East and Southern Africa. She has also been a staff writer for Potentash.com, a leading lifestyle blog in Kenya. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and Literature with a minor in Communication from the University of Nairobi, and a Master of Arts in Communication from the United States International University – Africa. Outside of work, Daisy enjoys reading African literatures and movies.
