Deborah Nelson is a Pulitzer Prize-winning freelance journalist and professor of investigative journalism at the University of Maryland. Most recently, she co-authored a Reuters series on global hunger that won a 2025 National Headliner Award and co-edited a student collaboration with the AP on deaths in police custody that was a 2025 Pulitzer finalist.
