About

David Dembélé is a seasoned investigative journalist for 15 years and trainer from Mali with extensive experience working with various local media outlets and collaborating with several groups of West African, Africans and international journalists. With rich knowledge of data journalism and fact-checking, he has conducted in-depth investigations into high-profile projects like “Fatal Extraction Project”, “Panama Papers”, “Swissleaks”, “West Africa Leaks”, “Pandora Papers” and “Shadow Diplomat,” demonstrating an expertise in rigorous research and data gathering. Founder of the Malian Network of Investigative Journalists (RMJI), David is also involved in global organizations like the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ), African Investigative Publishing Collective (AIPC), Center for Collaborative Investigative Journalism (CCIJ). Elected in 2024 as Chairperson of CENOZO, his experience participating in international investigative journalism meetings and training, as well as serving on international juries such as the Guillermo Prize and Fetisov Awards. David has taken part in a number of investigative journalism meetings and training around the world and is now increasingly focusing, through the PINI'A Consulting label, on experience sharing, training and capacity building at national and international level.
