About
Nkirote Koome is the Manager for Africa and the Middle East at the International Fund for Public Interest Media (IFPIM). She oversees grant sourcing, evaluation, and execution across Ghana, Kenya, Namibia, Lebanon, and South Africa.
Before joining IFPIM, Nkirote was a Funding Lead at Luminate, where she supported initiatives that strengthened media and information ecosystems and advanced civic and political participation among youth and women in Kenya, Nigeria, and South Africa. She previously served as a Regional Program Associate at the Ford Foundation’s Office for Eastern Africa, contributing to grant-making through research and helping to establish #AfricaNoFilter, a donor collaborative aimed at reshaping narratives about Africa through more authentic and contemporary storytelling.
