Fabrizio Palumbo

Fabrizio Palumbo is an Associate Professor in the Department of Journalism and Media Studies at Oslo Metropolitan University. He is the founder and leader of the AI Journalism Resource Center, a collaborative initiative between the AI Lab and the Department of Journalism and Media Studies at OsloMet. The center is dedicated to researching, supporting, and advancing the integration of AI and data science techniques in investigative journalism, with a strong focus on education, tool development, and providing data analysis support. Fabrizio has worked closely with investigative journalists from leading Norwegian media outlets, including NRK, Dagbladet, Faktisk.no, Sunnmørsposten, and iTromsø, to implement AI-driven methodologies in journalistic investigations. In addition, he has designed and led courses for practising journalists on data science and programming, aimed at bridging the skill gap as AI becomes increasingly prevalent in newsrooms. His work reflects a deep commitment to expanding the role of AI in journalism and fostering interdisciplinary collaborations that fuel innovative research and practical applications in the field. Fabrizio also holds a PhD in Neuroscience and a master in biomechanics.
