Dr. Charles Adeogun-Phillips, SAN is an accomplished international lawyer having previously served as lead genocide prosecutor and head of special investigations at the United Nations. He has attained the highest academic and professional recognition in the field of law. Charles is the founder of Charles Anthony Lawyers, a cross-border law practice in Nigeria. He also practices as a Barrister specialising in international law, from Guernica 37 (International law) Chambers at 6 Pump Court, London. He is admitted as List Counsel at the International Criminal Court and is the focal point for Nigeria at the International Criminal Court Bar Association at The Hague. He is the Vice-Chairman of the Board of Integrity Initiatives International (III) the Boston based international NGO advocating for the establishment of the proposed International Anti-Corruption Court (IACC). Charles has very wide and pioneering experience of dealing with high value and complex first instance disputes, including very high-profile corruption trials. In 2016, he was appointed by the Federal Government of Nigeria to lead the unprecedented corruption investigations and trials of several senior judicial officers in Nigeria. He specialises in the areas of private client and wealth advisory, international human rights law, international criminal law, international anti-corruption law, complex ‘white-collar’ and business crimes, international investigations and asset recovery. He is admitted as a Solicitor of the Superior Courts in England and Wales and was called to the Bar of England and Wales as a transferring Solicitor, by the Honourable Society of Lincoln's Inn. He read law at the University of Warwick and obtained his LL.M from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) University of London. He has been honored with a Doctor of Laws Degree (LL. D) by the prestigious Warwick University in recognition of his contribution to the development of international criminal law.
