Li Wei Soon

Li Wei is a full-time journalist with the Malaysian National News Agency (BERNAMA), based in Kuala Lumpur since 2011. She has focused on reporting climate change, eco-tourism, the environment, wildlife, pollution, and issues affecting vulnerable communities, including Indigenous peoples.  In June 2022, she produced an investigative report on illegal logging in Kelantan, which highlighted its devastating impact on biodiversity and Indigenous communities. The project, supported by Cent-GPS and the U.S. Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, gained wide attention after her exclusive story on Bernama was picked up by other media.
