Thanos Panagopoulos (née Aris Athanasios Panagopoulos) is an Associate Professor of Computer Science and head of the Artificial Intelligence and Intelligent Systems (AIIS) research laboratory at California State University, Fresno. He has dedicated himself to prototyping new intelligent technology to shape the production and urban landscape of tomorrow, and educate the future generations. His interests span a wide range of computer science and related fields including machine learning, artificial intelligence, optimization, control theory, multiagent systems and intelligent systems with an emphasis on computational sustainability. He has led a number of high-impact collaborative research endeavors and his research has been published in world-leading journals and conferences. His contributions have been recognized via a number of awards and honors. Panagopoulos has been a member of the program committee in a number of world leading conferences, including AAAI and IJCAI, and editor in a number of journals. Prior to joining Fresno State, Panagopoulos spent two years leading intelligent systems research as a post-doctoral researcher at UC Berkeley. Panagopoulos received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from University of Southampton, UK, in 2016.
